Environmental responsibility
Lindström’s environmental responsibility is a part of its quality policy. For over a decade, Lindström has invested in the improvement of quality. Environmental issues have been part of the corporate development programme and responsible operations.
The environmental effects caused by product maintenance are consumption of energy and water, quality and consumption of chemicals, quality of wastewater, total amount of waste, waste sorting and recycling, and carbon dioxide emissions.
Our goal by the end of 2008 is reduce the amount of generated waste by 15 per cent compared to the level in 2003 by concentrating in developing the drying technology of sand and sludge waste in mat laundries together with more efficient sorting and recycling.

The textile services are ecologically efficient by their nature
The eco-efficiency of the textile services is based on the long service life and management of the life cycle with maximum attention to the environment. The longer the service life of a product, the more times it can be used, the more efficiently the materials used for its production are utilized – and the more eco-efficient the product itself is.
The eco-efficiency of a textile service chain consists of the following factors:
- selection and purchases of products
- maintenance and service process during use
- disposal of worn products.
Lindström’s environmental policy has been defined as follows:
Lindström has signed the ICC Business Charter for Sustainable Development, whereby we have committed ourselves to take into account the environmental effects of our operations in planning and decision-making and to comply with relevant laws and regulations in all of our activities.
To ensure continuous improvement in environmental control throughout the Group, each operations unit draws up its own annual environmental programme defining the aims and measures to reduce environmental impact.
We train our staff to be aware of the environmental effects of their tasks and to act in an environmentally responsible manner.
We inform our subcontractors of issues relating to environmental control and require that they apply environmentally sustainable methods in their operations. We also require that our major suppliers give an account of the way in which they deal with environmental issues.
